Additional Information
In Australia, we have one plug shape, colloquially called the “HEAVY DUTY” or the EURO plug and its mating socket, with at least 3 wiring options:
- ISO 1185: international standard for European model trucks (i.e. typically associated with 24v trucks)
- includes auxilliary/fog lamps
- separates left and right marker lights
Please note the difference between the ISO 1185 above and these below:
- AS 4735: 2019 Industry change for all NEW MODEL VEHICLES across Australia
- includes reverse
- separate left and right marker lights
- AUS INDUSTRY WIRING:
- includes reverse
- joins left and right marker lights onto one conductor
- one spare conductor
- SAE J560: American standard for American trucks (i.e. typically associated with 12v trucks)
- quite different
- used to power ABS on American trailers
- (not used in AUS)
Unfortunately, you cannot tell how a truck is wired simply by the shape of the plug. You should ask your vehicle manufacturer what wiring diagram your plug or socket is wired to.
